A 1915 dated Canadian Ross MKII rifle in .303 British, with additional custom made reproduction stock made with original tooling and stamps and bayonet.

This is a fantastic First World War rifle that might not have been great on the battlefield but is perfect for the range. Its Action is slick, shoots very well with very good rifling, and has fantastic aperture sights both a fixed battle sight and a windage/elevation adjustable sight there is a professional repair to the stock near the tang that has been pinned in place but it has not shifted at all whilst I used this rifle (its come from my personal collection).

The exposed metal of the rifle has a patina not caused by rust but by hydrochloric acid which occurred in the trenches when chlorine gas mixed with moisture likely on the metal of the rifle already. If this was rust from there rifle being wet then pitting would be seen on the metalwork covered by the wood furniture which it is not.

This rifle was issued to the 58th Canadian highlanders and would most likely have seen service in the early years of the first world war.
