Winchester 1895 Russian contract chambered in 7.62x54r. this rifle is in fantastic condition and is extremely rare to find this model of 1895 in the UK. Produced by Winchester for the Russian army during the first world war this is the only Winchester 1895 to feature a stripper clip guide and can be loaded using a Mosin stripper clip and has a bayonet lug.

a total of 300,000 of these rifles were made and of those that managed to survive the first world war and Russian revolution many were used in the Spanish civil war or in Finland. as a result many you will see on the markets in Europe will be very pitted, worn out or so shot out they have been converted to a large hunting calibre.

This rifle does have a replaced but pad that is rubber rather than the curved metal Winchester one, although this is not original it makes shooting the rifle much more enjoyable. There are also two screws missing the carrier screw ( which i have on order and will come with the rifle when it arrives) and the magazine tip screw, however the latter does not stop the rifle from functioning and new ones could be made by a machinist or located in the US.

The rifle has been shot at 100 yards using reloaded surplus ammunition (to avoid corrosive primers) and consistently hit the middle of the figure 11 target using a 6 o’clock hold.

This is a chance to own one of the rarest front line battle rifles of the First World War
